was founded in 1994 by Susan E. Strain, whose expertise in cosmetic/aromatherapy manufacturing, quality control, safety compliance, sales, administration and purchasing management spans nearly 30 years. She is former Director of Purchasing for one of the largest aromatherapy companies in the natural products industry. After a profound personal experience, Susan began an intensive study of the therapeutic properties of essential oils. Through her attendance in medical aromatherapy seminars, Susan networked with exporters who supplied therapeutic quality essential oils to physicians and pharmacies throughout Europe. These connections enabled her to leave behind the readily and easily available commercial quality essential oils in the United States.

As a broker in the world market of essential oils, Susan has a pulse on current and future market conditions. As a student of therapeutic aromatherapy, she has trained her sense of smell to detect subtle organoleptic variances in quality. She sets the standards for MT. SHASTA NATURALS AROMATHERAPY™ and insists on maintaining the highest ethical standards.

As a purist, Susan knows that truly therapeutic aromatherapy products have a tremendous potential to increase the quality of life. Quite to her surprise, she discovered that she has a natural gift of hands that heal – perhaps part of her Native American heritage. As a Reiki Master, Susan works ‘in Reiki energy’ in every step of production. As orders come in, she produces new inventory – stock is not months old!

Every Friday for four years, the connection to Mt. Shasta was developed. Susan was employed as an outside sales representative in the Shasta territory. The mountain’s beauty and spiritual connection touched her soul. Then, as life would have it, she found herself living at the base of the mountain for several years. It seemed only natural that Susan name her company after California’s symbol of beauty, purity and Native American spirituality.
